This year, The Brewery Quarter has been on the hunt for the very best of Gloucestershire’s musical talent, hosting a public competition to find the next Summer Jam stars. Following a tense week of voting, the wait is now over.
The people of Cheltenham have spoken and with the majority of votes, this year’s Summer Jam stars set to bring the soundtrack to your weekend are… singer-songwriter Chris Smee, Disco-Funk band Soular, and Ska-Funk band Ready 5!
Local singer/songwriter Chris Smee has been playing in bands since the age of 8 and made his first public performance at the Brewery Quarter's Christmas lights in 2014. Since then he has played in venues throughout England and Wales and is regularly invited back to play in London where he is noted for his cheeky on stage presence and the variety of styles in his set. He has also played in Wychwood and 2000 Trees festivals.
5-piece band Soular have entertained hundreds of guests, performing at renowned festivals such as Cheltenham Jazz. Playing a mix of classic soul, funk and disco covers from the 70’s to present day they’re guaranteed to get visitors on their feet dancing.
Ready 5 formed in early 2017 from former Cheltenham band Sundown. Shying away from specific music genres, the band focuses rather on making music that combines their different tastes to create a fun, upbeat and infectious sound.
